The Georgia Council for International Visitors (GCIV) is a nonprofit organization that provides programming support for professional international exchange programs on behalf of the U.S. Department of State and other federal agencies. GCIV primarily implements the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) across the state. GCIV hosts approximately 300-400 international visitors annually. Exchange programs typically range 3-4 days.

GCIV is responsible for providing each visitor a variety of professional program meetings, as well as dinner hospitality and other cultural activities.

– Program Coordinator –

The Program Coordinator reports to the GCIV Executive Director (ED) and is responsible for managing all facets of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program for GCIV, including:

  • Maintain communications with program agencies in Washington, D.C. by phone and email;
  • Plan and implement the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in Georgia, including scheduling professional meetings and dinner hospitality;
  • Prepare a detailed and grammatically correct program description for each international visitor;
  • Maintain GCIV records on each IVLP or international exchange program;
  • Maintain and expand the GCIV community and professional resource database;
  • Supervise student interns as needed;
  • Contribute relevant content to GCIV’s social media platforms and monthly e-newsletter;
  • Maintain all membership records and support membership communications;
  • Create innovative community programs designed to engage GCIV members in citizen diplomacy and connect them with international visitors;
  • Together with GCIV’s ED, design and implement special community programs to reward and motivate both existing and potential members and volunteers;
  • Work with GCIV’s ED to target media stories and to provide complete international visitor lists for GCIV’s publication and reporting purposes;
  • Attend the annual conference of GCIV’s parent organization, Global Ties U.S., typically held in the spring, expenses covered by GCIV;
  • Work with GCIV’s ED to develop and maintain strategic community partnerships/alliances and Global Partners;
  • Collaborate with GCIV’s ED to write grant proposals for the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and Fee-for-Service programs (FFS);
  • Provide support for other GCIV programs as requested/needed.

Position Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • International experience/interest and experience working with diverse groups;
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with an international focus;
  • Flexibility as well as ability to adapt to changing work demands and juggle multiple tasks/deadlines. Ability to work on concurrent projects with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Pro preferred. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite a plus;
  • Experience managing social media channels including Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube;
  • Additional consideration for candidates with experience in SalesForce or other CRM (customer relationship management) software;
  • Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment, reliability, professionalism, confidentiality and cultural sensitivity;
  • Ability to take creative approach to planning programs for international visitors;
  • Commitment to the goals and mission of GCIV;
  • This is a full-time position with occasional evenings/weekends required.
