Learn more about the Foreign Service, the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and get to know other individuals inspired to cultivate positive global change.
We’ll hear a brief presentation by a former GCIV volunteer who currently covers gender equality, entrepreneurship, and health for the Bureau of African Affairs (AF). Kelley Whitson previously worked in the office of the AF Assistant Secretary as a Staff Assistant, and completed overseas tours in Copenhagen, Denmark and Monterrey, Mexico. Prior to joining the U.S. Department of State in 2014, Whitson worked as a Community Planner at the Department of Transportation, completed a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Malaysia, and participated in the Rangel Summer Enrichment Program. She is also a Rangel Fellow. Whitson holds a master’s degree in International Development from American University and a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Spelman College.
